08/05/2008 | IP range switching
get2play recently added a new Internet trafic provider into its network. The advantages will be the following:
- better redundancy in case of a get2play Internet provider downtime
- better peering with many ISP
- better pings
No change will be required on your side unless you do use the IP address (217.22.60.152, etc.) instead of the server hostname (x2.get2play.com, x3.get2play.com, etc.).
The reduce the downtime to the minimum during the IP switching, we highly recommend you to use the server hostname, as stated in the email confirmation you received after your server was paid.
If you still need to use the IP address, please use the new IP address:
| Hostname |
Old IP |
New IP |
| x1.get2play.com |
217.22.60.150 |
91.199.4.221 |
| x2.get2play.com |
217.22.60.152 |
91.199.4.222 |
| x3.get2play.com |
217.22.60.151 |
91.199.4.223 |
| x5.get2play.com |
217.22.60.154 |
91.199.4.225 |
Unlisted servers already use the new IP address and won't require any change.
The new network switching will be split in 2 phases:
- IP address change this Sunday, the 11th of May 2008 between 9:00am and 11:00am (GMT+2)
Simple IP range switching, without the explained benefits (better connectivity, better ping, etc.)
If you do use the server hostname (x2.get2play.com, etc.), you will probably get dropped off the server for 5 to 15 minutes.
After that delay, simply reconnect to the server as usual. No further action will be required.
If you do use the IP address, you'll also get dropped off the server and you will need the change the IP address.
A 5-15 minutes downtime will be noticed.
- Full network switching to get better connectivity and better pings
This will occur between June and July. Another email will be sent to announce the exact downtime time frame.
Every customer whose server expires this Sunday (or after) will receive a free 5-days bonus.
We stay at your disposal for more information.
